Pursuit of God Think Tank

What do the following scriptures reveal about the nature of God?

Lev 26:10 NIV

You will still be eating last year’s harvest when

you will have to move it out to make room for the new.

Mal 3:10-11 NIV

Test me in this," says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

Luke 5:4, 6 NIV

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch."   6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

These scriptures reveal the it is His nature to give “More than enough”

We share in His divine nature

2 Peter 1:4 NLT

Because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises.

These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature.

In light of the previous statements, what is the Logic of Leadership?

          A line of reasoning – if… then, since… therefore

If we “share in His divine nature,” then we are to do “more than enough”

Just doing what we are told is not enough

Luke 17:7–10 NKJV

Which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’? 8 But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and properly dress yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’?

9 Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not. 10 So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’

Unprofitable Servants & Leaders – no return on investment

·       Are you profitable to Pursuit of God?

·       Do you cause increase in the ministry you’ve been entrusted?

The Leaders of The Pursuit of God Transformation Center must be Profitable

Because the Lord has given POG a “different glory”

1 Cor 15:41 NLT

The sun has one kind of glory, while the moon and stars each have another kind.

And even the stars differ from each other in their glory.

Diáphoros:
to be different, excellent, to be superior.

Heb 1:4 NASU

Having become so much better than the angels,

as He has inherited a more excellent name than they.

Now He has obtained a more excellent ministry. Heb 8:6

How does our grading system define “more excellent”?  A+

The Pursuit of God Transformation Center is called to have an A+ Ministry

“Good enough” is the enemy to the Excellence of POG

Why do churches do “good enough” and “cute”?

What other business succeeds or even survives with this attitude?

We function on “good enough” in the other areas of our life

Excellence should reflect the whole of our lives since we have Holy Spirit

Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. – Dan 6:3

I share the Nature of God & I have the Spirit of God

This activates Excellence Creativity, Originality & Innovation

Isa 43:18-19

"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old.

19 Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Excellence must drive the CULTURE of POG

Commitment, Unity, Love, Transparency, Understanding, Reaching & Excellence

Excellence makes me go the extra mile

Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. – Matt 5:41

Excellence is not based on a mood or feelings

He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.

Eccl 11:4

Excellence must be a habit

We are what we repeatedly do.  Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. – Aristotle

Does your leadership reflect the Excellence of God’s Nature & Spirit?

What grade would God give you for your leadership at POG?

To be an Excellent leader you must focus on Mastery

“Mastery, absolute competence, is mandatory for a leader.

The leader hasn’t simply practiced his vocation or profession.  He’s mastered it.

He’s learned everything there is to know about it.” – Warren Bennis

You should work to know more about your ministry than anyone else in the region

Mastery starts with the Investment in Yourself of Time & Preparation

Leaders are learners: ASK

Leaders are readers:  books, time spent in car or exercising

Practice it & Teach it

“One of the quickest ways to learn something new, and to practice it, is to teach others how to do it. So share what you learn with your team. Your learning will be much more focused and practical.” – Harvard Business Journal

Submit to feedback

We must have Masters who become experts in their ministry

Performing at the highest level, and

taking their area to higher levels of success and growth

Or ministry will never advance – remaining mediocre or just “good enough”
