Rooted Pt 1 Notes

Isa 61:3

They will be called trees of righteousness,

The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Jer 17:7-8

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is the Lord.

8 He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream,

and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green,

and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

Ps 1:2-3

His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.  In all that he does, he prospers.

It makes a difference where you’re planted

·       Root – Stability

·       Fruit - Productivity

Ezek 47:12

Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing."

Make a difference because you are planted

Ps 92:13-14

Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing (and green).

Jesus is hungry

Mark 11:12-14, 20-21

Now the next day, when they had come out from Bethany, He was hungry.

13 And seeing from afar a fig tree having leaves, He went to see if perhaps He would find something on it. When He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. 14 In response Jesus said to it, "Let no one eat fruit from you ever again."  And His disciples heard it.

·       Breba crop: bonus crop of figs in summer, after the regular crop in fall

o   Ezek 47:12

20 Now in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. 21 And Peter, remembering, said to Him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away."

John 15:5-8

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.  6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.

7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.  8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

Matt 7:17-20

So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.

18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

Is there a bushel basket laid at your base?

Or, is there an ax at your root?
